Agency Biography
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) Bureau leads and facilitates the delivery of a full spectrum of prevention, treatment, and recovery services to reduce the impact of substance use and abuse in Los Angeles County. Services are provided to LA County Medi-Cal beneficiaries through a network of 150 community-based organizations. The Clinical Standards & Training (CST) Branch is the entity within SAPC responsible for SUD provider workforce development. This is accomplished through providing a series of lectures, presentations, and training experiences with emphasis on participant engagement and skill development as a key focus of learning. The Continuing Education program identifies and seeks to address clinical knowledge or practice gaps in the peer, SUD Counselor and clinical workforce while constructing comprehensive trainings focused on treatment of individuals with substance use disorders or who are at risk of developing substance use disorders.
