Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (CMPSS). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the concepts of hope, recovery, and wellness, and be able to effectively advocate for the rights and needs of individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges. Guided by the Code of Ethics for the profession, this position utilizes a combination of psychiatric rehabilitation skills and addiction recovery principles to promote recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engagement in mental health and substance use treatments.
- Promote wellness and recovery through direct engagement with individuals and their families.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support care and recovery goals.
- Provide behavioral health services in a supportive environment using psychiatric rehabilitation skills and addiction recovery principles, including enhancement of coping skills and problem-solving skills (i.e. individual and group services).
- Advocate for individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges, promoting hope, recovery, and wellness within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Support individuals and families with navigating a variety of service delivery systems.
- Refer and link individuals to community support services and resources.
