Agency Biography
SCCC provides affordable mental health services for people in need; it was founded in 1966 with the belief that no one should be denied counseling because of limited financial means. Today we provide a range of programs that address the diverse needs of the communities we serve, with a particular commitment to addressing the impact of trauma and violence in under-resourced communities of color. We seek to help clients develop the skills they need to navigate personal, family and community crisis; to understand and manage difficult reactions, fears and concerns; and to implement plans that empower our clients and foster optimism, resiliency and possibilities.
SCCC is a training site for pre-licensed MFTs and CSWs who are on the licensure track.
In 2023, SCCC became an approved CalMHSA Peer Support Specialist Certification training site. Since then, we have trained over 170 peers in preparation to become state certified Peer Support Specialists.
