Agency Biography

Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (L.A.CADA) is a community based non-profit, licensed and certified by the State of California’s Department of Health Care Services and the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health and Mental Health. We treat persons with substance use and co-occurring disorders, and other behavioral problems. Our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, including Peer Support Specialists provide holistic, recovery-oriented, patient centered, trauma informed, culturally appropriate and affirming services. L.A.CADA has a long history of working with marginalized communities, including:

• Persons experiencing homelessness
• Justice-Involved, including the formerly incarcerated
• LGBTQ+

The L.A. CADA Academy believes that learning through activities, community building, and self-reflection are the best paths to developing quality peer support skills.

Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training Schedule

Training Method: Online Only

Training Modality:  Cohort

Training Length: Two Options:

1) 13 days total (Tuesday/Thursday evenings)
2) 7 days total (Saturdays)

Training Hours:

Cohort 1: Tuesdays/Thursdays: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Cohort 2: Saturdays: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Registration Capacity: 25 students maximum per cohort

Registration Dates: Open enrollment until December 30th for cohorts 1 & 2
