For over 100 years, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) has prepared leaders to build a more inclusive and equitable future. LMU’s Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training prepares individuals for employment in peer support roles, with a focus on serving transitional age youth (TAY), Veterans, and justice-impacted individuals. The training emphasizes applied learning, cultural responsiveness, and peer-centered care through a blend of instructional methods, including lectures, small group activities, and guided discussion. LMU’s diverse learners and educators reflect California’s communities, and its programs are designed to expand access, promote equity, and strengthen California’s behavioral health workforce.
