Guidance for Advertisement of Certification
The following are guidelines for advertisement of Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (CMPSS) in California and how to list the credential and specialized training.
- Include the full name of the person who has been certified.
- Use the complete title of the certification or an acceptable abbreviation, as follows:
- Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist or CMPSS.
- Provide the certification number.
- Include the complete title of the specialized training recognized by CalMHSA, such as:
- Parent, Caregiver, Family Member Peer.
- Peer Services in Crisis Care.
- Peer Services for Unhoused.
- Peer Services for Justice Involved.
It is important to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Do not misrepresent the status of your certification or any other professional qualifications or affiliations to any individual or organization.
- Avoid any misrepresentation regarding the certification, certification initials, certification numbers, or specialized training.
