CalMHSA Learns
CalMHSA Learns is CalMHSA’s learning management system (LMS), designed to provide continuing education (CE) courses that strengthen skills, promote ethical practice, and uphold compliance across California’s mental health and substance use systems.
While many CE courses are designed broadly for behavioral health providers, two no-cost trainings are especially relevant for Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (CMPSS):
Supervision of Peer Workers
Supervision offers an opportunity to support quality behavioral health services, professional development, and ethical practice. This training highlights how supervision strengthens competency, supports continued growth, and builds effective supervisor–supervisee relationships. The course is based on SAMHSA’s “Supervision of Peer Workers” best practices and fulfills the state’s training requirements for the supervision of CMPSS in California.
- Length: 1 hour
- Cost: No cost to participants

Ethics & Boundaries for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists
Funded by DHCS and developed by CalMHSA, this training explores core principles of ethics and boundaries in peer support practice. The course also meets the continuing education requirements for CMPSS certification renewal.
